Welcome to the wonderful world of music!  Your child will have the opportunity to learn and share his or her music with others. The piano curriculum is designed to help your child develop lasting musical skills and to give your child a love and an appreciation for music.

Teacher Responsibilities

Mrs. Kennedy will provide a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere for learning and offer performance and enrichment activities.  She will continue to further her teaching skills and music knowledge by belonging to professional organizations, attending workshops, reading professional publications, and engaging in other activities leading to professional growth.  She will encourage a feeling of success at each student's individual rate of learning and guide each student towards musical independence with a balanced program of theory, technic, ear-training, sight-reading and performance opportunities. She will make piano as fun and entertaining as possible!

Assuring your child's success in piano lessons

Successful, satisfying piano study is dependent upon a good instrument and correct and consistent practice habits.  In order for students, parents and the teacher to experience success, the following are my recommendations:


Arrive on time for all lessons.  Keep your child's nails clipped short.


Arrange a set time 7 days (or 5 days)  a week for your child to practice.  Check the piano assignment after each lesson. Check on your child's practice progress during the week and help your child follow the directions.  Make sure your child is prepared for each lesson and has finished all the written assignments.  Full practice will be defined as completing each assignment a specific number of times each day.  For example-- practice the E scale three times perfectly each day; review measures 10-18 five times each day, etc.  There will be specific directions outlined in each student's assignment.  This may mean your child's practice time may fluctuate depending on the length of time it takes to perfect certain passages.  


A further word on practicing.  Musical progress comes through practice, persistence and patience.  Practice is defined as an action done again and again to learn to do something well and to develop an ability and skill.  The important part of each piano lesson is the practice time that follows.  


Think quality practice, not quantity.  Consider practicing before school, first thing in the morning while your child is still fresh.  Practice slowly.  Practice difficult parts first.  If possible, have a regular practice time; habit is an important factor. Think before playing.  The valuable practice is accurate, thoughtful practice.


You as a parent are making a musical investment.  Please safeguard your investment by making sure your child will have time to enjoy and prepare his music.

As a parent, please give your child a constant, wholehearted encouragement as they explore the wonderful world of music.  Also, communicate with me any questions or concerns you may have about your child's progress.  Be helpful, interested, and supportive!


When students enroll, they are reserving their placement in the studio for the entire year.  The enrollment agreement is a firm commitment and guarantees your place in the studio.  Please understand that the tuition you pay reserves an exclusive weekly time in the schedule of your child.  

Registration Fee -- $35.00  


Includes private lessons, group lessons, preparation for the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival, and playing opportunities--recitals, ensemble/solo playing, award program, piano orientation and piano evaluation.  As the student advances, the additional lesson time is necessary and very beneficial.  Tuition will include 39 lessons and 2 group lessons throughout the academic year .


Payment of fees

Registration fee is due with registration form.


Tuition is payable in advance of lessons, due the first of each month or 1st lesson of each month.

Tuition may be paid:

Annually due the week of August 14

Semi-annually due August 14 and January 1st

Monthly--Nine equal payments due  first of the month or first lesson of each month beginning the week of  September 2

Monthly--Ten equal payments due first of the month or first lesson of each month beginning the  week of August 14  


A late fee of $10.00 shall be assessed if the tuition has been received after 10th of the month.


Tuition covers not only the contact time spent with the student, but also the time spent in preparation for the student:

  • An individualized plan for the student's course of study
  • Development of teaching materials
  • Teacher's training and experience
  • Recitals:  Preparation of programs and refreshments
  • Professional organization memberships to enhance teaching skills and provide students with opportunities for competitions, exams, and festivals
  • Studio expenses of bookkeeping, copying and incentive programs
  • Tuning and repairs of pianos
  • Continuing education

Group Lessons

Group lessons enhance the private lesson. In group lessons we discuss composition technique, study composers and music history, have performance opportunities, practice ear training skills and play music games that reinforce music theory concepts. Group lessons are one of the highlights of the studio experience...we have such fun and learn in ways that are impossible one on one.

45mins  &


The 30mins lesson time is recommended for students up to 7 years of age

The 45mins lesson time is recommended for students from 7-10 years of age

The 60mins lesson time is recommended for students ages 10 and above, adults, and advanced students

As the student advances, the additional lesson time is necessary and very beneficial. 


Additional Fees

Entry fees for the Junior Festival and any other events entered by the students will be posted to the Student's Music Account sheet in the front of their assignment folder.  Throughout the year if I purchase music and needed supplies for the students, I will post that to the Music Account sheet as well. 


Attendance and Cancelled Lessons

Regular attendance at lessons and classes is essential for the student's progress.  Lessons missed by the teacher will be made up.  To cancel a lesson please call 864-735-5179 or email rossitzakennedy@gmail.com


Be sure to choose a lesson time that is one in which you feel confident that you will have no other conflicts.  Those students requesting Monday or Friday lesson times, please note that there will be lessons scheduled on some minor holidays (Labor Day, Presidents Day).  If Mondays or Fridays are best, and holidays are a conflict, you may request a make-up lesson time slot.


In case of inclement weather or illness, lessons will be taught on line via Skype Video, my Skype is: Rossitza Kennedy. If weather don't permit Skype Video Call and the student is  very sick for Skype Video Lesson, student may send an audio or video recording after a few days to the instructor for feedback and instructions on practicing at home, please text 864 735 5179 or email rossitzakennedy@gmail.com

Music is a beautiful language.  It is a means of expressing thoughts and feelings.  Music plays a vital part in our lives. Please remember the following:   (1) Encourage your child to practice regularly, (2) provide your child with an instrument in good condition, and (3) provide an atmosphere that is conducive to practicing and concentrating.
